Barbara Kruger is an american conceptual artist that I was familiar with but didn’t know it until Rene pointed her out. 

Kruger’s work interests me for a several reasons. First, it utilizes typography and typically has a strong message. I also enjoy her appropriation and alteration of existing imagery. I’ve learned that I am often drawn to this mash up quality, where things are given new meanings by alteration. Annnnnd she’s a designer that also makes contemporary art!
